Saints Cosma and Damiano The Holy Doctors : dear Sara, I’m writing rather frequently to you lately, thank you for listening to me!!!, I want to tell you something that when my maternal grandfather was young, he had to undergo surgery; during this operation, he was lucky enough to see two people next to his bed, who first put their hands on his wound telling him that everything would have been OK and then they introduced themselves “Michael” they said, “we are Cosma and Damiano, we are the Holy Doctors and we’ve got a gift for you!!!, you will have to give relief to those suffering from pain in the stomach, tonsils and so on”.
Then they went on speaking with him and said goodbye.
Since then my grandfather did everything he was told to do by Saint Cosma (or Cosimo) and Saint Damiano and became devoted to them.
He received this gift and every time we went to see my grandparents, although it was late in the evening, people used to knock at his door holding crying children, but when my grandfather touched their tummies with his hands they immediately calmed down!!!
That was stuck in my mind!!!, he was an ordinary man, indeed, sometimes he used to swear, but they had chosen him!!!, my grandfather has handed down his gift to some of us of his family before dying in 1999.
